Why Weed Should Be Every One's Best Friend:

No matter the size, religion, skin colour or sexuality, weed, or cannabis if we’re being more technical, should be your best friend. I understand that many people have their doubts when it comes to the drug. However, there really isn’t anything to worry about. According to the United Nations, 158.8 million people around the world use marijuana, and in my opinion this number should keep growing.

Lets start with the basic assets of consuming cannabis. Weed is not as dangerous or harmful to our bodies, as alcohol.  Despite almost half of all adults worldwide having tried weed, a small percentage of them continued on to being frequent users, highlighting the fact that weed simply is not as addicting as alcohol. In England, there are an estimated 595,131 dependent drinkers. Not to mention the fact that alcohol is related to various types of cancer and exposes its users to a higher risk of development. So if you’re ok with alcohol being legal, what is your problem with cannabis?

Weed enhances our bodies and senses. It causes psychotomimetic symptoms which causes its users to create links between ideas that are not completely related to one another. In other words weed is crucial in stimulating creativity.

For almost every satisfaction brought about by weed, a health advantage follows. Weed is commonly known for its ability to make any food or snack taste 100 times better, due to the chemicals it releases in your brain. Allow your taste buds go on a crazy adventure. These same chemicals have also been found to improve the appetites of those suffering from eating disorders, as well as, HIV or AIDS.

Cannabis is the scientific name given to the hemp plant, of which the flowers and leaves contain cannabinoids. The most known cannabinoid is known to us as THC. Our bodies have cannabinoid receptors located in the brain, as well as, other parts of the body, in particular in our immune and nervous systems. Hence the many perks weed brings us today.

A study conducted at the Rudolf Magnus Institute of Neuroscience discovered that weed can in fact help those suffering with depression, as it “reduces the negative bias in emotional processing.” Not only this, but weed is also a known stimulant for Dopamine, which is commonly known as the brain’s “pleasure pathway”. I mean what better combination could you find?

The health benefits introduced by weed vary between minor health issues and life-changing diseases. Weed can helps to alleviate chronic pain, as well as, period pains, meanwhile also reducing bloating due to its anti-inflammatory properties. If we are to look at the more paramount issues, weed is highly affective in fighting cancer. It is able to interfere with the cellular communications of tumours, without damaging healthy hormone cells, unlike common treatments against cancer like chemo-therapy. There have been several cases in which cancer patients have reported that the use of weed, ultimately saved their lives. Yet cannabis remains illegal in majority of countries.

Despite the many concerns surrounding cannabis, and despite the fact that it does have some side effects, weed simply is not as bad as it is made out to be. In fact, there are more pros than there are cons. But I guess the point that I will make in order to steer your opinion on the matter is, the reality that there has not been a single record of a death caused by a marijuana overdosed, ever since the drug has been known to man-kind. Now compare that to the 8,758 alcohol-related deaths in the UK in 2015.

So, I think it is safe to say that weed should be every ones best-friend, no matter the situation.
